When consulting new clients that host with us, we always strongly suggest that they make use of the email accounts they receive with our hosting plan. This is because, as a business, it’s important to communicate with your clients using a branded email address, as opposed to a generic gmail address, i.e.,you@yourbusiness.com. They also hate using two different clients to check their personal and business emails. Here is a solution to make your email life easier.

The following video is a step by step walk-through for setting up a branded business email with gmail, better known as creating an alias within gmail. Your clients/customers will never be able to tell that you’re emailing them from a regular old gmail account, and it saves having to log into an entire separate email client in order to check your business email.

It’s also a sweet alternative to Google Apps for Business for managing email. Let us know if you have any trouble setting this up. You will need a hosting account with the ability to create email addresses for your own domain in order to set this up. Enjoy!

Business Email With Gmail

What’s going on everybody this is Ro here… I just wanted to show you guys how to manage your branded business email with Gmail. In other words, I’ll be showing you how to add an alias to your gmail account.

First things first you probably want to go ahead and create that email address you want to manage through your gmail account. 9 times out of 10 you’re probably going to be using cpanel as your hosting manager, so this is where you want to create the email address.

Let’s go ahead and create a dummy account. Let’s just call it jobs at postnola. Go ahead and set up your password…and click “create account”.

Alright, now that’s created. The next thing you want to do is set up the forwarder for that account. Go ahead and click on “Add Forwarder” and you want to set up the forward to go to your gmail account that you want to use to manage the business email. In this case, I’m going to be using my ‘remahnf’ account. Go ahead and click on “Add Forwarder”, and the next thing you want to do is go into your gmail account and click on the settings wheel. Go to settings and then go to accounts. Also, since we’re going to be setting up an alias here, that means we’re going to be having email coming to this email account from different email addresses so when you reply to the message you want to reply from the same address the message was sent to. You don’t want to reply with your gmail account when somebody sends you an email to jobs at postnola dot com. You want to just make sure that you’re replying with the same alias that they’re sending mail to. Go ahead and get that checked right there.

Now go ahead and add another email address you own. Change the name for the email that you’re setting up. Go ahead and add that email address there. Make sure that’s still checked…”Treat as an alias”.

Hit “Next Step”, and you want to send the mail through gmail. Click on “Send verification”. Since we set up that forward, we should have an email sent to this account. There we go.

You want to take this code here…this is the verification code. I’m going to go ahead and copy that. Put that verification code in there, hit verify, and what we want to do is go ahead and send out a test email. We should get that email in our gmail account.

When we reply to the email, it’s going to show from jobs at postnola instead of showing from your gmail account. That should be it. Let me know if you guys have any other questions in the comments below. Just let me know. Alright, talk to you later.
